Translation We offer a fast and reliable translation service for documents from a wide variety of specialist areas. Language is our passion and we pride ourselves in producing elegant and fluent target language copy that reads like an original, not a translation. However, all we do is based entirely on your needs. Sometimes you may not require an elegantly crafted text but a quick, possibly summarised translation for information purposes only. And that’s precisely what we’ll deliver, at a faster turn-around time and a lower price. This service is also available from German into English. Transcreation Sometimes a “simple” translation is not enough. Areas such as Marketing & PR, which depend on strongly localised, culturally tailored messages, often require “transcreation”, or creative adaptation, to appeal to a different target audience – get your message across, create the same image, but not necessarily with the same words. Original Writing You know what you want to say to your German partners but don’t have the time to put it into an elaborate English original? You have a lengthy English document and want to provide your contacts with a concise, well-written German summary? Just let us have the information we need, and we’ll produce the document for you – with back translation into English if required. Voiceover Scripts Promotional video? In-house video news? A voiceover needs to sound as smooth and elegant as the original, conveying all the information without “overrunning” – not always easy when you adapt it into a language that generally takes a little bit longer to say the same thing as the English… All our team members have a strong background in radio journalism and are themselves experienced voiceover artists – our “ear for language” ensures not only accurate translation and timing, but also a great sounding, fluent script. *Please note that we currently do not provide recording or production facilities. However, we can put you in touch with experienced and talented voiceover artists for German voiceovers. Proofreading Every professional translator will proofread his or her work at least twice and with utmost care. For even the best translation will lose the intended impact if small typing or grammatical errors are overlooked. However, experience shows that it is harder to spot your own errors than someone else’s – even with the greatest diligence. Therefore, we recommend having every translation proofread by a second independent linguist to ensure nothing is overlooked, in particular, if the document is for publication. We also offer this service for existing German translations and other copy. Editing / Editorial Advice Unfortunately, some translations stick so closely to the original text that they just do not read like German. They don’t flow; they sound clumsy and unidiomatic or worse, are full of terminological or linguistic errors. You only need to look at the internet to find a surprising number of examples – company websites with foreign language versions which in some cases are not just inelegant or full of errors but, frankly, incomprehensible. If you have a German text that you suspect may benefit from editing or editorial advice, we will give you our honest opinion – and, if necessary, do the editing for you. |
